As a creator working with hand-crafted pieces, witnessing this milestone feels deeply personal. For me—and for everyone in this country—it’s a moment of immense pride.

From childhood I’ve seen my mother, grandmother, and aunts wear Tangail sarees—sometimes as their everyday comfort, sometimes as their most cherished attire for Dawaat and celebrations. Later, work took me to Tangail itself, where I watched the loom move up close and understood the skill, patience, and quiet genius behind this tradition.

Today’s recognition honours all those artisans who have protected and nurtured this craft for centuries. Feeling grateful and proud… and a little lucky too—because when this news broke, I was already working on some pure handloom Tangail magic that will soon be revealed.

A beautiful day for Bangladesh’s handloom heritage.
